چکیده

In the areas of both safety and reliability analysis the precise modeling of complex technical systems during development and for evaluation purposes is of great importance. Traditionally, fault tree models have been used to accomplish this, and, more recently, stochastic Petri-net models have begun to be employed. To provide engineers with an intuitive high-level modeling interface to Petri-nets, this paper introduces an approach combining extended fault trees for the description of the system and stochastic Petrinets for the evaluation and analysis of the model.

Exact Modeling and Simulation of Saturated Induction Motors with Broken Rotor Bars Fault using Winding Function Approach

Winding function method (WFM) provides a detailed and rather simple analytical modeling and simulation technique for analyzing performance of faulty squirrel-cage induction motors (SCIMs). Such analysis is mainly applicable for designing on-line fault diagnosis techniques. In this paper, WFM is extended to include variable degree of magnetic saturation by applying an appropriate air gap functio...

Combining Various Solution Techniques for Dynamic Fault Tree Analysis of Computer Systems

Fault trees provide a graphical and logical framework for analyzing the reliability of systems. A fault tree provides a conceptually simple modeling framework to represent the system-level interactions between component reliabilities. Dynamic fault trees have been shown particularly useful for reliability analysis of embedded computer systems. Dynamic fault trees are a superset of traditional (...

Computerized fault tree construction for improved reliability analysis

Fault Tree Analysis is a well-known method for reliability evaluation of systems. However, manual construction of fault trees is a tedious and time-consuming task. Thus, many researchers tried to get benefit of high speed and accuracy of digital computers to automate this process. Automated construction of fault trees can be very useful in system reliability analysis, especially in design step,...

Bridging the gap between Fault Tree Analysis Modeling Tools and the Systems being Modeled

Fault tolerant systems comprise of subsystems that interact with each other in complex ways [Joh89]. As a result, modeling the reliability of these systems calls for sophisticated analytical techniques. A powerful technique to address this issue is dynamic fault tree analysis [Dug92]. But because the semantics on which Dynamic Fault Trees are based are themselves complex, there was a question o...

Robot reliability using fuzzy fault trees and Markov models

In this paper, we will consider the application of notions and techniques from fuzzy logic, fault trees, and Markov modeling to robot fault tolerance. Fuzzy logic lends itself to quantitative reliability calculations in robotics. The crisp failure rates which are usually used are not actually known, while fuzzy logic, due to its ability to work with the actual approximate (fuzzy) failure rates ...
